TDH3 Run #79 (written by "Occupied")

Run No. 79 - March 13, 2024
Venue: Awamangu, Otago, New Zealand (Post NZ Interhash)

This trail was at "THE RANCH," Toyboy and Imelda's abode in south central New Zealand. Ten, YES, 10 years since they had last hashed they dove right back into it by being the Hares and leading the "privileged to be there" pack in and out of surrounding paddocks with checks and check backs that confused the heartiest of Hashers like HHHiggins the FRB.

Yes, FRB, as he wandered (bolted?) off on down the trail while chalk talk was still happening. Is that shortcutting or experienced hash wisdom? The Pack followed along arriving at the fork in the road where careful decisions needed to be made. Finding themselves on the road at the entrance point to The Ranch, true half minds figured the trail went off property having obviously not listened to the chalk talk and they were.....wrong. The rest of the pack correctly ambled down the road eventually crossing over into a paddock and flying through the serene countryside at a blistering pace. If you were a turtle.

Coming upon a check and with major decisions to be made, confusion took over, the pack unable to focus long enough to determine a direction to proceed in. The problem is obvious. We'd arrived at a shearing station. Some are searching for trail. Some were fascinated by it all, wishing it was operational. The rest are unable to think about anything except locating the spot where they queue up for their "haircut!" Aeugele exhausted by it all, Yoko Anal now long gone ahead knowing her hairdresser did not work in this place the pack regrouping and running into the next paddock. And the next. And the next crossing through the gorgeous Otago landscapes, dodging various flavors of paddock pies like deer and cow seasoned with pig n sheep garnish.

We spat back out onto the road for the gallop On Home, the 5K jaunt reminding one of why 'The All Blacks' are the greatest Rugby Team in the world > this beautiful, rolling NZ countryside is a bugger to run!

Back at the circle we admired our shirts received from Nibbles which commemorated this very special reunion with Imelda and Toyboy. Stories were told, memories relived, the circle continued on. And on and........:)
